There is so much you can do with a hot glue gun! It's one of those tools that are just simple and easy to use, but when it comes down to it, there really isn't any limit. All you need Is a hot glue gun (of course), some adhesive sticks for the job(s) at hand--whether they're carpet protectors, kitchen utensils or shelves.
1. Prevent Slipping Hazards Around The Home
Are carpets are bothering you in and around your house? You should try a glue gun to secure them in place. All you need to do is heat up your glue gun on a table or holder that will allow for it to be at least 6 inches over where you intend to glue the carpet down, and glue it in place.
This glue will not damage the carpet if you use a quality glue gun (that reaches 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or 177 degrees Celsius). You can glue the carpet to the floor or glue it over anything, but do not glue carpet under something; the glue may damage the material beneath, at least melt it.
The best way to glue down carpet if you have a space that is smaller than 8 or 9 inches between where you intend to glue and a wall is to glue a larger piece of the carpet down in the corner
This is also what you should do when going around stairs so that glue does not get on them. You can glue it to anything that would securely stay in place or glue it to floor boards, but this glue will always stick better if you clean the material!
2. Upgrading Your Hangers
The following trick will ensure that your shirts stay put on the hanger! Simply apply a strip of glue along the shoulder area (of the hanger!) and wait for it to dry. Once dried stretch out this sticky substance until it's taught enough so as not leave any gaps between each individual hook before putting away all clean garments. It is important to note that it's best for the adhesive strip should be relatively thick.
3. Kitchen Knife Cover
To keep your kitchen knives sharp, Vaseline and a glue gun is the perfect solution. Leave room for air between glue and blade by spreading it thoroughly before laying down another layer on top of each other with hot melt adhesive glue. Once they're fully set, apply some pressure until all residue has been removed - now wash away any excess liquid without worrying about damaging your material. Clean with soap and water before usage.
4. Preventing Door Slamming
An excellent way to stop your closet doors from slamming is by using hot glue. This will keep the cabinet frame in good condition and also prevent any further damage that may be caused due to constantly closing and opening its door.
Safety Rules to Remember When Using a Glue Gun
Always make sure that there is no flammable material in the work environment and stay away from open fires. If you are unsure about something, ask an expert! (*nudge*) Don't touch anything but the nozzle of your guns for at least 60 seconds after use to let it cool.
Remember - never place them side-down onto surfaces; leave standing so as not put unnecessary strain by bending too much or putting heavy items upon top.
